BGFIBank Group: Over 700 employees engaged in the service of the public interest during the fifth edition of BGFIDay

On December 7, the BGFIBank Group (www.Fondation-BGFIBank.com) once again took part in the International Day of Solidarity by organizing the fifth edition of BGFIDay, its traditional solidarity day in support of its host communities. Held under the theme “Collective action in the service of excellence”, this new edition provided an opportunity for meaningful encounters, strong commitments and inspiring discoveries between volunteer employees and host communities.

As a key player in responsible corporate citizenship—particularly through its adherence to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact since 2006—the BGFIBank Group once again demonstrated its ability to mobilize alongside stakeholders who work daily to promote greater social equity.
On December 7, a total of 735 volunteer employees were mobilized across 10 countries—Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Senegal—contributing more than 5,000 hours of volunteer work and reaffirming the core values that underpin the Group’s corporate culture. Nearly CFA francs 59 million were allocated to support around twenty solidarity projects, benefiting 2,656 direct beneficiaries in 18 cities.

Among the 20 beneficiary organizations of this fifth edition were: the New Bell Center for the Rehabilitation of Deaf Children (CRES) in Douala, Cameroon; the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Treichville University Hospital and the Akwaba Hospital in Cocody, Côte d’Ivoire; the Agua Ize Social Center for the elderly in São Tomé and Príncipe; the Association for Underprivileged and Abandoned Orphaned Children (ADEODA) and the National School for Hearing-Impaired Children in Libreville, Gabon; the Avotra Betania Isahafa Lazaina Orphanage in Antananarivo and four public primary schools in Nosy Be, Toamasina, Diego Suarez and Sambava in Madagascar; four primary schools on Bioko Island, in Littoral, Kie-Ntem and Wele-Nzas in Equatorial Guinea; the Kintélé Nursery School in Congo; the Kër Don Socio-Educational Center in Dakar, Senegal; the Saint-Dominique Orphanage of Azowlissè in the Ouémé department of Benin; and one middle school and one high school located in priority education zones in Paris, France.

Welcoming the success of the 2019 edition of BGFIDay, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the BGFIBank Group, Mr. Henri-Claude Oyima, emphasized that:
“Social responsibility is an integral part of our purpose. Thanks to the deeply human qualities of our employees, the BGFIBank Group continues to work tirelessly to translate our social commitment into concrete action across all our countries of operation.”
